Artist's Comments

We moved into this apartment just after our honeymoon. While she was on another trip to another hospital, I unpacked our things and decorated it with the mementos of our marriage. Everything was new. The frames were still empty.

Before she left, she told me she did not want her ashes left on some mantle. She did not want a shrine. I promised.

Easter, one month and seven days after… I glanced over at her photo, at our memories, at what was left. “Jesus…I promised her… All it needs is some goddamned candles…”

Wow this image alone it well done but when juxtaposed with the story this image just become so powerful. I'm not sure if this is a true story or made up for the purpose of artistic expression but either way it is beautiful and of it is a true story I am sorry for your loss.

Great work on this piece :)
